It was with great anticipation that we unwrapped ‘The Rug’ sent all the way from the United Kingdom to British Columbia Canada and we are delighted beyond words with what we received! Upon first view of the rug it is immediately evident that Keith puts his heart and soul into his visually beautiful and skillfully crafted art work.
Our journey with ‘The Rug’ began when we saw a Youtube featuring Keith Barber demonstrating how to make a selvedge rug on a peg loom. It was apparent that Keith was a man of integrity with a wonderful sense of stewardship towards our planet as demonstrated by the use of the leftover selvedge from the weaving industry. We appreciate that Keith comes from a long line of weavers and has a fine eye for colour and the unique design of the rugs, which suggest the Gneiss rock formations on the Scottish Islands. We contacted Keith asking to see photos of rugs currently available. Keith did better than that and almost immediately sent us a video of all the rugs displayed in Farfield mill where he also weaves them. From that video we were able to make our choices and asked if it would be possible for Keith to photograph the rugs in an overlapping pattern on the floor so we could get a better sense of them. Again, in very short time we received several photos of the rugs as requested and also close ups of the rugs with a write-up of the materials used. Nothing we asked was too much. The entire experience was seamless with Keith sensitively managing the purchase process. We can’t say enough. The splendid rug matches our furniture perfectly and is very well constructed, thick, heavy and will last generations if looked after. We treasure that we also have the provenance for the rug. We couldn’t be happier. We had the best on-line shopping experience ever. Thank you Keith for everything. You and your fine rug are a delight.
